5 Standout Trends from Miami Swim Week 2023
By Melody Rivera BEAUTY NEWS NYC
After a fun-filled weekend of runway shows and pop-up events, Paraiso Miami Swim Week has finally concluded. Although it was a great time, I couldn’t wait to come share with you which brands and trends stood out the most for me. Not even one brand disappointed… Every swimwear company was memorable, and I can confidently say that there is a swimsuit for everyone this year.
Here’s a peek at the most prominent trends from Paraiso Miami Swim Week 2023:
Trend 1: Art As Resort-wear
Sigal brought the vibrancy we all wanted but with a creative twist. The entire line featured unique designs with watercolor techniques and colorful Floridian takes on the classic Hawaiian vacation shirts. The best part of the Florida collection was knowing it was all hand-drawn by the designer herself. Sigal was the first show I attended, and it definitely set the standards high for the rest of the weekend. If you are looking for something that screams creativity, you are going to want to get your hands on the “Miami uniform” as Sigal’s founder Cohen Wolkoweiz calls it.
Trend 2: Glamorous Cover Ups
I have seen a fair share of glistening bikinis and one pieces sitting poolside in my day. However, most of those gorgeous pieces are covered by a basic neutral cover up. The bathing suit has always been the main attraction while the cover up is something we’ve always put on the back burner. Well, Neena Swim has demonstrated that this trend has vanished with their new line of crystal-embellished cover ups. I still can’t get over the brand’s sparkling light purple sheer cover up that featured a plunging neckline and a high-slit. That will definitely be the first thing I put in my cart next year!
Trend 3: Dark Alluring Swimsuits
Before this weekend, I was not a fan of dark colors for swimwear at all. I always thought summer months were supposed to be filled with vibrant resort wear that embodied the liveliness of the Amalfi Coast. This entire mindset went right out the window when I saw Axil Swim debut their line of dark metallic bikinis and one pieces. This part of the collection was giving alluring siren vibes and I am all here for it. You will be seeing me on the beach next year channeling my inner edgy side with an Axil Swim metallic red cutout one piece.
Trend 4: Textures Takes The Runway
What I loved most about Sinesia Karol’s collection was how every piece ended up looking better as the model got closer. From afar, you see beautiful flattering swimsuits with vibrant tones and lively graphics. However, as each model approaches, you begin to fall more in love with every piece as you see that certain panels are composed of mesh or animal print textures. My favorite set from the line was this teal off the shoulder bikini that featured a frill detailing on the side of the high-waisted bottoms that appeared to resemble a reptilian texture. Sinesia Karol’s 2024 collection is the definition of attention to detail.
Trend 5: Impactful Swimwear
Natasha Tonic has sent a loud and clear message to everyone with her Coral City collection. The designer created an entire line of sustainable swimwear that feature coral designs inspired by Miami’s reeds and the pioneers working to restore them. Toni? says the goal of the collection was to bring awareness to the dangers facing coral reefs and offer a way to lend support. The designer is taking matters into her own hands and will be donating 10% of sales to Coral Morphologic , where they will plant one coral for every swimsuit purchased.
