My experience building an E-Portfolio
In the past four months, I had the pleasure of working with classmates and my professor, Dr. Koczan, on this e-portfolio. Looking back at my personal brand before this journey, I realized that I had no guidance and there was no flow to the works that presented my professional background. I never realized many of the things that my professor brought to my attention throughout the semester. Through discussions and personal brand assessments, I realized my strengths and weaknesses. I learned that I am a very versatile person. I am also able to work in a group and love being around others.
I have also realized that I am a self-driven and motivated individual. Through a career trend questionnaire, I realized many of my attributes correlate with the demands of the job title of a beauty editor. I need to be self-motivated so I can continue to meet tight deadlines.
After performing various exercises in the past couple months, I realized how I wanted to present myself to the professional world. That was something that I kept in mind when editing and producing this website. I wanted to showcase my personality and experience with the layout and organization. I was very tedious with this portfolio and wanted to effectively represent myself in a virtual way for you all. I am really happy with how it all came together.
This e-portfolio taught me a very important lesson that was essential to my personal growth: feedback is okay. Before taking this class and creating the e-portfolio, I hated feedback. I never wanted anyone to critique my work and I never wanted to show anyone the work before it was finished. Through this journey, I realized that critiques and feedback is only going to make me a well-rounded individual. Other people can give me a perspective that I might not be able to see. My professors and fellow classmates showed me what my greatest attributes are and I made sure to stress them when rebranding myself. I don’t think I could have made this e-portfolio how it is without the help of the people around me. Professionally and personally, I have grown so much in the last couple months because of this class. I want to say a huge thank you to Dr. Kozcan for taking the time out of her schedule to help me with my personal brand and for setting me up for professional success. I will always be grateful for the guidance. With that said, I welcome everyone to continue giving me guidance and advice so I can continue on this journey to becoming a beauty editor.
